I've always been a fan of concentric circles. So, it makes perfect sense to me that anyone visiting Richmond should begin their visit here at The Valentine (http://thevalentine.org) . The museum has a wonderful new exhibition "This is Richmond" & I'll bet that even if you're a native with a long lineage, you'll still find yourself surprised by at least one or two things you learn during a visit here.
Frequently, I hear reference that Richmond is perhaps, not-so-open to non-Richmonders... It's my opinion that John Wickham's history flies in the face of that myth. Don't miss a tour of his home, the Wickham House, right next door as part of YOUR experience at The Valentine to learn why. The Wickham House is extraordinary... a terrific location to learn more about our city's history or to hold a wedding or other special event. The staircase in the entrance of the home (below), along with many other features of the property, is simply breathtaking - functional art in itself!
